Rob Evans Mk1 Escorts This man may be single handedly responsible for the shortage of Mk1 Escorts in the south east. Rob has owned and restored loads of Mk1 Escorts, here are some pictures of his latest project and some previous cars he has built. The current project is a 1968 G reg early type car, with the external bonnet realease and compression strut front suspension, he acquired this car in 2001 as a cheap "banger" from it's previous keeper, on investigation it turned out to be another of those lucky finds he has, the Floors, Chassis, Inner wings and sills are all still original rot free and immaculate!! He is currently in the process of rubbing the floor down to bare metal while he decides what to do with this one, plans include a 2.1l pinto and 5 speed gearbox, Bilstein suspension and Mk1 RS seats, other than that he is undecided on colour and whether to fit big wings (bubble arches). I will keep the page up to date as it progresses. Click pictures to enlarge
These pictures are of Robs red Mk1 powered by a modified 1600 Crossflow. This car started life as a 1100 before being rebuilt and was a daily use vehicle. This car Has now been sold and currently lives in Southern Ireland, if you are the new keeper email and let us know how it's going. Click pictures to enlarge
These pictures are of Robs blue Mk1 2.0l which he restored, this car he sold to Carl Harker this car has been back to our workshop for some suspension reworking and will also be getting a Cossie transplant soon, see the Current Projects Page for details. |
